Benefits of Creep Feeding
  • Promotes the development of a proper functioning rumen – the faster the gut is developed, the better the eventual growth, health and nutrient digestion of the lamb;
  • Increased survival rates of weaners;
  • Increased twin and triplet development;
  • Providing sufficient nutrition when ewes are on inadequate pastures; and
  • Early weaning to allow ewes to gain condition quicker.

Creep Feeding with the Advantage Feeders Creep Panel

  • Ewes teach their lambs to eat from feeders from 2 weeks of age.
  • It is best to feed a mix that is 12MJ and 18% crude protein.
  • From 20 days of age to weaning, lambs consume an average of 250grams/head/day.
  • The Creep Panels can be retrofitted to existing Advantage Feeders and can be put on any other 2.4 meter rectangular feeder on the market.
  • The system comes with a plate that is clamped onto the side of any feeder and acts as a guide to drill the pivot and various securing holes.

Creep Panel Closed
In this position, only the lambs will be able to access the feeding area
Creep Panel Open
In this position the feeder operates as a standard grain feeder
The Advantage Feeders Creep Panel (Patent application number 2010903466) allows you to implement creep feeding – the process of supplement feeding lambs while excluding ewes, quickly and easily. The Creep Panel simplifies creep feeding by acting as a guard over the trough denying ewes access to the feed on the basis of their head size.
The Advantage Feeders Creep Panels are permanently attached to the feeder. This makes repositioning the feeder easy because there is no need for you to deal with the inconvenience associated with gate panels or enclosures. The system is cost effective because of the limited parts required.
The Creep Panel is able to be pivoted to allow the feeder to operate either as a creep feeder or a standard grain feeder. This enables one side of the feeder to creep feed lambs ad lib and the other side to feed ewes a restricted ration.
